Dr. Sampadananda Mishra, a renowned Sanskrit scholar and passionate proponent of the Indian Knowledge System (IKS), has made significant contributions to the promotion and preservation of Sanskrit language and culture. A devoted disciple of Sri Aurobindo and the Mother, Dr. Mishra is well-versed in their writings and frequently delivers lectures on the philosophy and practice of Sri Aurobindo’s Yoga. His expertise spans across diverse fields including Sanskrit, Indian culture, Yoga, spirituality, and education, which he has shared at numerous conferences, seminars, and festivals both nationally and internationally.
Dr. Mishra’s association with Sanskrit began early in his life, and he has since become an active figure in promoting the language through various innovative initiatives. Notably, he founded and launched the world’s first 24-hour Sanskrit radio channel, ‘Divyavani Sanskrit Radio’, in 2013. Dr. Mishra single-handedly manages the entire content for the channel, which has been instrumental in making Sanskrit more accessible to a global audience. His efforts in propagating Sanskrit are not limited to the digital medium; in 2014, he also founded the ‘Samskrita Balasahitya Parishad’, an organization dedicated to creating, evaluating, and promoting children’s literature in Sanskrit.
Continuing his passion for nurturing the younger generation, Dr. Mishra recently launched a monthly e-magazine for children called ‘Saptavarna’, further enriching the domain of Sanskrit children’s literature. His literary contributions and commitment to Sanskrit have earned him numerous accolades over the years. These include the ‘President’s Award (Maharshi Badarayana Vyasa Samman)’ in 2011 for his outstanding contribution to Sanskrit and the ‘Senior Fellowship Award’ from the Ministry of Culture, Government of India, in 2014, for his research on the Vedic Art of Multiple Concentration.
Dr. Mishra has also served as the ‘Associate Editor’ of the ‘Collected Works of Vasishtha Kavyakantha Ganapati Muni’, a monumental publication in twelve volumes. His work has been widely recognized and celebrated, earning him awards such as the ‘Literary Excellence Award’ from Junior Chamber International (JCI) India in 2017, the ‘Kendra Sahitya Akademi Bala Puraskar’ in 2018 for his book ‘Shanaih Shanaih’, and the ‘Pandit Deen Dayal Upadhyaya Recognition of Re-engineering India 2020’ by Re-think India Organization.
In recognition of his lifelong dedication to the promotion of Sanskrit, Dr. Mishra was recently conferred the prestigious ‘Sri Aurobindo Puraskar 2024’ by Sri Aurobindo Bhavan, Kolkata, for his immense contribution to Sanskrit language and literature.
Dr. Mishra’s journey as a scholar, educator, and researcher is an inspiring testament to his unwavering commitment to preserving and propagating the timeless wisdom of Sanskrit and the Indian Knowledge Systems for future generations. His innovative projects and contributions continue to impact and enrich the cultural and intellectual fabric of India and the world.
The Govt. of India has conferred the President’s award (Maharshi Badarayna Vyasa Samman 2011) on Dr. Mishra for his outstanding contribution to Sanskrit.
In the year 2014, the Ministry of Culture, Govt. of India conferred the Senior Fellowship Award on him for carrying out his research on the Vedic Art of Multiple Concentration.
In the year 2017, the Junior Chamber International (JCI) India, (JCI Pondicherry Metro) conferred the Literary Excellence Award on him for his contribution to Sanskrit language and literature.
Dr. Mishra was conferred the Kendra Sahitya Akademi Bala Puraskar for 2018 for his book Shanaih Shanaih – A book of Rhyming songs in Sanskrit for children.
He was also conferred the Pandit Deen Dayal Upadhyaya Recognition of Re-engineering India 2020 by the Re-think India Organisation.
